APA Wireless'
breakthrough technology employs a high performance, microprocessor-controlled
"frequency synthesis engine" as the core of a new generation of
RF components.
High-speed wireless
systems rely on embedded radio frequency (RF) modules as the crucial
components that generate and control the microwave frequencies used
for data transmission. Currently, RF modules use "YIG" (yttrium
iron garnet) technology, based on a rare earth material. That technology
requires hand assembly, is costly to manufacture, relatively slow
to change frequencies and sensitive to vibration in real world settings,
with failure rates approaching 40 per cent.

YRO
Oscillators

|
Dubbed "YRO"
for YIG replacement oscillator, APA Wireless' new technology exceeds
the performance of YIG-based components, without their limitations
and cost.
APA Wireless'
new generation of YRO oscillators are adaptable to a variety of
communications and testing needs. Highly resistant to vibration,
these new RF oscillators are designed to change frequencies in less
than one millionth of a second - up to 1,000 times faster than any
YIG. They are geared to:
- replaces
DRO and YIG applications
- fully automated,
cost-effective high volume production, at savings projected up
to 65 percent over conventional YIG-based technologies and with
60 percent better yields.
APA Wireless
Technologies, Inc. developed the YRO technology as the evolutionary
advancement of its current RF components, now widely used by customers
including Nortel Networks, Hughes Networks, Lucent and Motorola.
